Direct Voltage MTPA Speed Control of IPMSM-Based Electric Vehicles

A simple maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) method is designed for interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs) with no current control. The proposed tracks the rotor speed by finding best pair of voltage angle and amplitude each motor’s condition. This achieved without stand any control loop using a single controller, which makes technology to great extent, contrary majority methodologies in literature. Moreover, thorough insight analysis provided determine analytically gains, simplifies tuning it suitable contender development low-cost PMSM drives. To illustrate capability suggested method, comparative study conducted popular MTPA vector strategy. Experimental results various situations reveal ability controller steady-state, standstill, transient conditions. Additionally, quantitatively assess trajectory tracking accuracy, both methods are compared an efficiency metric. Besides, US06 standard driving cycle implemented experimentally validate electric vehicle applications.
